HR Advisor | Cambridge | £35,000–£40,000
This candidate is a hands-on HR generalist with strong operational experience and a clear understanding of how HR supports day-to-day business needs. They are seeking HR Advisor roles across the Midlands and are open to permanent positions or longer-term interim assignments.
They bring broad experience across core HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, payroll coordination, and general HR administration. They are comfortable acting as the first point of contact for managers and employees and focus on building trusted working relationships.
In their most recent role, they supported a busy operational workforce and handled a wide range of HR queries. Responsibilities included managing leave and absence, supporting payroll inputs, advising on benefits and pensions, and maintaining accurate records on the HR system. They owned onboarding and offboarding processes end to end, ensuring contracts, documentation, and final pay were completed accurately and on time.
Employee relations is a clear strength. They have supported investigations and disciplinary processes in line with ACAS guidance and led absence review meetings. This work helped reduce repeat absence issues and gave managers confidence when handling sensitive conversations.
They also offer strong recruitment experience, delivering end-to-end hiring across office-based and operational roles. This included managing job adverts, screening applicants, and supporting hiring managers through selection.
Clearer role definition and improved hiring processes contributed to reduced recruitment costs while maintaining quality of hire.
Earlier roles in high-growth and project-led environments added further depth. They supported full lifecycle recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and workforce planning across mixed permanent and freelance populations.
They also managed conduct and attendance issues in line with policy during periods of rapid change.
In addition, they have supported more analytical and project-based HR work, including employee engagement surveys, competency frameworks, and wellbeing and inclusion initiatives. They are comfortable working with HR data and turning insight into practical actions for managers.
They hold a business degree with a focus on HR and organisational behaviour, reflected in their clear communication style and ability to adapt messages for different stakeholders.
Overall, this is a practical HR Advisor who can step in quickly, manage competing priorities, and support both people and the business with confidence.
