Head of HR | West Midlands or UK wide | c£85k
We are supporting a highly credible Head of HR now open to Head of HR or HR Director roles across the Midlands and wider UK.
This is a senior HR leader with 15 plus years’ experience in complex, multi-site environments. They combine clear strategic thinking with strong operational control and a calm, credible presence. Boards, senior leaders and operational teams trust them quickly. Their style is pragmatic, commercial and grounded in delivery.
Most recently, they operated as Head of HR within a large national, multi-site organisation. Reporting to the HR Director, they sat on the senior leadership team and led the people agenda across multiple locations. Their remit included workforce planning, HR cost control, senior stakeholder partnering and the delivery of major change programmes in demanding, client-led environments.
A core strength is complex change delivery. They have led large restructures, redundancies and TUPE transfers across multiple sites, often under tight timelines. All programmes were delivered with strong governance, clear communication and zero tribunal exposure. Workforce redesign and engagement activity delivered over £1.3m in recurring annual savings while improving absence and attrition.
They bring strong commercial insight to HR leadership. They have owned people budgets aligned to operational forecasts and client contracts. One example includes designing an agency-to-permanent model that reduced labour costs by £11k per week while improving workforce stability and productivity.
They also have solid HR transformation experience. As programme lead, they supported a new HRIS and payroll outsourcing model, reducing payroll queries by 40 percent. They introduced a standardised reward and benefits framework, delivering contractual harmonisation across pensions, sick pay and allowances through structured consultation.
This candidate is a strong people leader. They have built and led HR teams across business partnering, employee relations, recruitment and HR operations. They develop capability, mentor future HR leaders and promote from within. Line managers value their clear standards and focus on accountability.
Earlier roles include senior HR positions in unionised manufacturing environments, leading complex employee relations agendas and rebuilding union relationships. Targeted retention strategies reduced early-tenure attrition by 45 percent and restructures delivered sustainable cost savings.
Following elective voluntary redundancy in late 2025, they are now fully available. Salary is flexible depending on scope, with guidance around £85k plus.
If you are hiring a Head of HR or HR Director who brings commercial realism, deep employee relations experience and proven delivery at scale, this is a strong profile to consider.
